WORLD'S FASTEST & QUICKEST LIGHTNING

9.88 / 133.4
719HP / 870 FT LBS

Whether it be street/strip or all out competition, the Kenne Bell Twin Screw is hard to beat as a power maker - at any price. And it's a direct bolt on replacement with the same basic tested and proven rotor, bearing, shaft, gear etc. design as all the Kenne Bell superchargers.

Johnny Lightning's Kenne Bell supercharged '02 Lightning is recognized as the first GEN 2 Lightning in the 10's and the 9's - and the first Lightning to produce 600HP and then 700+HP with the Kenne Bell supercharger. Johnny owns, tunes and drives the wheel standing beast which also serves as a test vehicle for his company, JLP.

His Eaton/Lightning had turned a best of 11.5/115, which is about max for the Eaton Roots style supercharger. That was as fast as it would go. Johnny bolted on the Kenne Bell, made another 110HP and improved 1/4 mile performance to 10.59/126. With his built short block, head work, cams, stroker kit etc., he has run in the low, low 10's at 133 mph. This combination made an incredible 719 rear wheel HP and 870 ft lbs of torque at 23 psi WITHOUT NITROUS. And there was still some boost left. Now what's all this talk about bigger or better superchargers?

In June '04, Johnny's Kenne Bell supercharged Lightning ran a 9.88/133.4 at Maple Grove - the FIRST GEN 2 LIGHTNING IN THE 9's. We're frequently asked "should I buy the other bolt ons or step up to a Kenne Bell and some real HP, at any rpm." The Kenne Bell guarantees big attainable proven gains - up to 150HP from the supercharger alone.

Now we've all seen the "up to 20HP" - and more - ads and claims for 1. headers 2. exhaust 3. throttle body 4. cool air kit 5. chip 6. meter etc. Does anyone really buy into these claims? If you do, then buy these 6 products for about what a Kenne Bell supercharger would cost and see if your Lightning makes 120HP (6 products X 20HP = 120HP). If you believe this, then there is also a Santa Claus and a Tooth Fairy.

Then there are the dreamers who believe that porting and polishing the factory Eaton/Roots can somehow overcome the inherent design shortcomings (higher power consumption, lower efficiency, hotter air charge temp etc.) of the Eaton/Roots and match the Kenne Bell. Is there now - or will there ever be - an Eaton/Roots that can generate enough air for 719RWHP and 870 ft lbs of torque while maintaining 23 psi of boost?

For street only Lightnings, the Kenne Bell will increase power by 55HP over an Eaton with the same 3" pulley - and 96HP with a 2-3/4" pulley for weekend racing with some racing fuel.
