| In 1991, Kenne Bell, The Innovators, was first to pioneer the Autorotor Twin Screw concept on Fords. That's 13 years ago and thousands of satisfied kit owners. Those features originally promoted in 1991, 1. quiet operation 2. self contained oil system 3. full instant no lag boost (HP and torque) at any rpm 4. lower parasitic loss and 5. cooler air charge temperature are now the talk of supercharging. History has proven us right. Mercedes and the Ford GT40 are some of the prestigious high performance vehicles switching from the Roots type and/or selecting the Twin Screw concept for their new high HP vehicles. | |||||||||||
| Further
proof of the Twin Screw's efficiency superiority are the hundreds of Eaton/Roots
supercharged Ford Lightning and Cobra owners that have upgraded to the Kenne
Bell. All have experienced big power gains at any engine rpm or vehicle
speed. Ask any of these owners if they think Kenne Bell superchargers only
make great power and torque in the low and mid range. Given that history of success, and the ever increasing popularity of the Kenne Bell kits, the intercooled and non intercooled kits for the '99-'01Cobra's were inevitable. It's basically the same as the Kenne Bell '03-'04 Cobra. And they're calibrated in house by Kenne Bell programmers. As with all our kits, we've thoroughly dyno tested it at varying boost levels and with other Kenne Bell product options. All major kit components are pre-assembled, sealed and tested. It's ready to bolt on. Only the best and most efficient components are used - '03 Cobra intercooler, Kenne Bell/Garrett heat exchanger, billet Kenne Bell Twin Screw supercharger, billet bypass valve etc. Performance? This supercharger makes maximum power and torque because of it's 90% efficiency and lower parasitic loss - at any rpm. At any boost, the kits are what you'd expect from Kenne Bell - an abundance of smooth, quiet, brutal power in any gear at any rpm from 1500 to redline. The Cobra 4V engines exhibit tremendous power potential (see "Kenne Bell '03 Cobra Dyno Tests"), particularly with the Twin Screw supercharger. The '99 up naturally aspirated Cobra engines are basically the same as the '03-'04 supercharged versions except for the stronger forged rods and low compression pistons - and, of course, the upgraded (90mm vs. 80mm), 42lb injectors, dual pumps and inlet tube which were needed to feed the supercharger. Kenne Bell first recognized the potential of the 4V Ford engine when introduced on the '96 Cobra and designed a non intercooled kit. We were also aware of the inherently "weak" low and mid range HP and torque curves of the Cobra 4V. The Kenne Bell Twin Screw solved this undesirable trait with whiplash performance from idle to redline. Ford was also painfully aware of the shortcomings and introduced their own supercharged version but, unfortunately, with a less efficient Eaton. In '02, Kenne Bell engineered their highly successful Twin Screw upgrade/replacement for the Cobra's Eaton supercharger, followed by the Lightning upgrade and new ground up 4.6 2V intercooled and non intercooled kits. These incredibly powerful - at any rpm - Kenne Bell kits forever changed the way enthusiasts, the experts, the aftermarket and OEM engineers now perceive the Kenne Bell Twin Screw concept on Fords. Clearly, there was a new and more powerful supercharger on the block. Our '99-'01 kits offer a lot of built in flexibility. Additionally, all the expensive guesswork, experimenting, product adaption and expensive dyno tuning has already been done. All kits have been completely calibrated (no extra tricks needed) in house by experienced Kenne Bell technicians. We even offer chip calibrations backed by actual dyno tests for those who also wish to race with higher octane fuel on weekends. We are well aware of how to make the most HP with our kits. Both stock and upgraded Kenne Bell products have been thoroughly tested, analyzed and calibrated to work on our kits. Our kits are complete with all gaskets, hardware and the best installation instructions in the industry. The major kit components are all pre-assembled and ready for installation. |

| • Same
basic kit used on '03-'04 Cobra, but with the new BIG BORE 2.1L**. Note: Kenne Bell Cool Air Kit and 90mm meter are highly recommended upgrades for any Cobra. See TS1000-99C+ kit. Cost is only $300 more for the entire package. **2.1L BIG BORE takes less engine HP to drive and is the same air flow as 2.2L. The ‘99-’01 pulley system will not allow the use of the 2.4L or 2.6L for race applications.

| Our most popular kit. Feels like a big 7 liter motor. Huge power and torque gains that only a Kenne Bell can produce. More HP with 5 psi than the 8-9 psi '03-'04 Cobra/Eaton (400 vs. 366RWHP). This is basically the same as the Kenne Bell '03-'04 Cobra kit except we've added a new '03-'04 Cobra lower manifold and considerably more parts and hardware. At 5 psi, with the Kenne Bell BOOST-A-PUMP™ and SWITCH CHIP®, and all stock components (inlet system, mass air meter, throttle body, pump etc.) this kit produces 400RWHP. Now, larger 42lb injectors are also supplied to handle the added power. The Kenne Bell 12" Cobra Cool Air Kit and 90mm Meter is highly recommended. No short, cheapie, metal tube adaptions or exposed underhood filters. The kit is designed to accept either stock 80mm (maximum 400RWHP) or Kenne Bell/Cobra 90mm (up to 700RWHP) and stock or "Big Oval" inlet manifolds. The knock sensors are re-calibrated for the supercharger. At 400HP, the Cobra meter can no longer calculate fuel delivery and the stock injectors are maxed out. At 400HP, adding the Kenne Bell Cool Air Kit adds 22HP (422HP), but requires the companion Kenne Bell 90mm Meter (426HP) and a re-calibrated Kenne Bell Chip. | |||||||||||

42lb Injectors - At 5 psi, the 80mm stock meter is "pegged" at 400HP and 5 psi. The Kenne Bell 90mm and Cool Air Kit make another 26HP and 6.5 psi, but the stock injectors - particularly older worn injectors - become marginal. New 42lb injectors (not shown in photo) included in this kit. |

| Same power potential as the '03-'04 Cobra with the Kenne Bell kit. 9 psi about max on pump gas with stock rods & pistons. This kit will produce 462HP at 9 psi and 449HP at 7.5 psi.Kit includes necessary fuel system and inlet upgrades (Kenne Bell Cool Air Kit, BOOST-A-PUMP™, 90mm Meter, SWITCH CHIP®, 42lb Injectors and Cobra Inlet Tube). Max boost for the 2.1L is 18 psi, but Cobra/Manley low compression pistons and rods are necessary for boost above 9 psi. '03 Cobra intercooler, heat exchanger, fill tank pump, hoses, fittings, adaptors and all hardware is included. | |||||||||||

| Note: For consistency and to avoid confusion, dyno tests were all run at 11:1 AF ratio and 18° timing. See Tech Tips for more details. | |||||||||||
| These are comparisons between our stock '03 Cobra/Eaton vs. the stock '99-'01 test cars. Both were 11.1 AF ratio and 23° and 18° timing respectively. Even without an intercooler, the Kenne Bell 5 psi kit (5.5 psi peak) outpowers the '03 Cobra with 8.5 psi peak boost. The Kenne Bell 9 psi kit produces up to 96 more HP than the '03 Cobra. | |||||||||||

| This comparison illustrates how minimizing inlet restriction/pressure loss increases HP (+22HP Kenne Bell Cool Air Kit and +4HP Kenne Bell 90mm). Boost increased 1 psi, proving the restrictive air flow losses transmit to power gains. | |||||||||||

| BOOST - The '99-'01 Cobra boost will vary depending on cam timing position and may require a pulley size adjustment. There is a .5-1.8 psi boost loss through the Cobra intercooler, so non intercooled (NIC) and intercooled (IC) boost will also vary depending on HP level. Consult Kenne Bell Tech Dept for specific recommendations on pulley sizing. | |||||||||||
