INTRODUCTION
- Our objective at Kenne Bell was to design the very best supercharger
kits for cars, trucks and SUV's - kits that would never be obsolete
or dated. We feel the more you look, the better we look. While Kenne
Bell may not offer the lowest cost system, we do guarantee a top quality
brilliantly engineered package that even includes new hi-flo cast aluminum
intake manifolds where necessary. Then there's the supercharger itself
(low parasitic losses, more HP, "instant boost", single belt
drive, quiet low-friction operation, long life, more boost potential,
high AE and VE, self contained lubrication etc.). Kenne Bell Kits all
offer good looks, quiet operation, no lag-instant full boost throttle
response, flat torque curve, gobs of horsepower and torque at any rpm,
excellent driveability and internal lubrication.
Finally, there's the
prestige of owning and driving the latest and the best. Check out the
features, one by one. We have some powerful arguments for our kits.
When finished, we think you'll agree that there is no better value.
As one magazine writer so aptly stated, "The Kenne Bell Twin Screw
kit is a home run in anyone's park!"
SOME KENNE BELL HISTORY
- Kenne Bell was formed in 1968, originally specializing in normally
aspirated V8 and V6 Buicks. The company has long been recognized as
an innovator in high tech performance products, particularly in the
area of turbocharging and supercharging. Over the last 33 years, Kenne
Bell owned or sponsored Buick's, which were always in the spotlight,
setting numerous records in NHRA drag racing. Twice, Kenne Bell cars
received "Best Engineered Car Awards." Kenne Bell supplied
parts for the Buick Indy pace cars, and worked closely with the Factory
on parts development. We also engineered many hi-tech products for the
infamous Turbocharged V6 Buick Grand National and the GMC Syclone Truck.
Our successes with the D'Alessandro/Kenne Bell "Worlds Fastest
and Quickest Single Turbo 231" StreetGN" is legendary. It
is credited with being the first Turbo Buick in the 11's, 10's and 9's,
winning and/or setting fast time at the 1989, 1990 and 1991 Buick GS
Nationals in the hotly contested Turbo Junior Stock Class - testimony
to the expertise of Kenne Bell product engineering. In December '94,
the D'Alessandro/Kenne Bell Single Turbo Stage 1 Buick made history;
the first Single Turbo Stage 1 Buick to run in the 7's (7.99/167.25)
- a record that stands to this day.
Today, Kenne Bell
specializes and is committed to supercharged performance, offering an
extensive line of street and competition hi-tech performance products
that compliment our World Class Supercharger Kits.
THE TWIN SCREW AUTOROTOR
- It didn't take us long to decide which supercharger concept fit our
criteria. The Autorotor had the looks, billet aluminum case, efficiency,
durability and performance Kenne Bell demanded. Besides the obvious
automotive applications, it had been used for many years in industrial
applications to supply clean, oil free air to pressurize the cabins
of large commercial airliners, industrial buildings, cold storage facilities,
etc. The backbone of the new fuel cell technology is a twin screw compressor.
Kenne Bell has used only Autorotor since 1991 and today is the exclusive
U.S. Distributor for any and all Ford, Dodge, GM and other applications.
We chose this supercharger because of it's low friction - low parasitic
loss, long life, sealed bearings, self contained lubrication, high VE
and AE, "instant boost", cool air charge, driveability, quiet
operation and horsepower-torque advantage. Note: Kenne Bell is in no
way associated with the company, Whipple Industries or "Whipplechargers."
APPLICATION
- Kenne Bell Kits are 50 State Street Legal. The 5 psi kit (TS1000-5)
runs on 92 octane and requires no other changes but what's supplied
in the kit. The 8 psi Mustang kits typically demand better fuel and/or
ignition retard or a SWITCH CHIP® for retarding. All kits (5-20
psi) utilize the same size supercharger case. Only the rotor profiles
or a pulley change is necessary for higher boost levels. Kenne Bell
thoroughly tests all products on the street and track with company owned
and sponsored cars. Our ongoing development programs are your guarantee
that Kenne Bell will continue to lead the pack. Kenne Bell is well experienced
in hi-tech turbocharged and supercharged applications, and is the only
company to obtain a 50 State Legal CARB Executive Order on both a Supercharger
and Turbocharger Kit. Kenne Bell's past racing and performance successes
are now legendary. Our expertise and the experience on the track, street
and dyno is our customers best assurance of superior quality products.
APPEARANCE
- The bold new Kenne Bell Twin Screw Autorotor Kits combine the best
of all worlds - the industry's most efficient and sophisticated supercharger,
integrated into a serious, yet attractive package that fits under the
stock hood and mounts on top of the engine - where a supercharger should
be. It not only looks great - some say sinister or "bad" -
but it out-performs the others. Yet it looks "factory." Hands
down, the class act of superchargers.
MORE HORSEPOWER
- 40-100% + increase, depending on the kit, associated components and
other engine modifications. Boosts as high as 20 psi for racing-only
applications. Perhaps most important is the additional horsepower and
torque throughout the rpm range that your engine realizes from the Kenne
Bell "instant boost" (no "supercharger lag" or waiting
for rpm to build up and develop boost). Some kits include a SWITCH CHIP®,
OPTIMODULE or OPTIMIZER ll to optimize fuel, spark and transmission
operation.
COMPONENTS
- Unlike the lower cost centrifugal "blow through" (blows
through the stock upper intake manifold via a rubber hose), the Kenne
Bell "pull through" design kits include up to two (2) new
cast aluminum low restriction inlet manifolds. The supercharger case
itself is billet extruded aluminum. So quite often our kits cost a little
more.
TORQUE & DRIVEABILITY
- Maximum mid-range and low-end torque. No one can touch us in this
area. "Instant maximum boost" means instantly more torque
and horsepower when you punch it at any rpm above 2000 (even between
500 and 2000 rpm). Now we all know that boost makes torque and horsepower.
Therefore, the higher the boost at any engine rpm, the greater the engine
output i.e. torque and HP. Torque and horsepower is what makes driving
fun. It slams you back in the seat, spins the tires, accelerates the
vehicle faster up hills and for passing etc. This is what you pay for.
The trick is to get as much torque - and horsepower - throughout the
rpm band at both high and low engine rpm. No one has a fatter, flatter
torque curve. That's what a twin screw compressor supercharger does
for you. It's like riding with a compressed air bottle. Hit the throttle
and the stored up compressed air blows maximum boost charge into the
engine. The amount of air and boost will depend on how far you depress
the accelerator and the engine demand. No "supercharger lag"
here. Unlike others that depend on rpm for boost (approx. 1-1.5 psi
of boost per 1000 rpm), there's no waiting for the rpm to build with
the Kenne Bell supercharger. Just get ready. It develops maximum boost
and performance at 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000 or 6000. That is the feeling
worth paying for. Remember, you can't enjoy maximum horsepower at any
rpm and vehicle speed without maximum boost.
CRUISE
- We can cruise our company test vehicles down the freeway in any gear
at 2000, 3000, 4000 or 5000 rpm without getting into boost and heating
up the engine and burning up excess fuel. Again, boost in the Kenne
Bell Autorotor is not a sole function of rpm, but of throttle position.
