| How does the
OPTIMIZER ll and SWITCH CHIP® differ from other chips, modules
etc.? The OPTIMIZER ll isn't some "inline
module" or "$1 diode in an epoxy box" that tricks the factory
computer's air charge, coolant, tps sensor or spark signal. And it doesn't
set engine codes or allow the engine and trans to "relearn" thereby
negating what little gain you may have gotten in the first place. Kenne
Bell re-calibrates the Chrysler Computer's engine, transmission and fan
operation functions for increased performance and cooling. Your changes
are permanent and real. No one does the Chrysler's like Kenne Bell. The
SWITCH CHIP® is a re-calibrated module that plugs into the stock Ford
computer. Note: Some SWITCH CHIP® calibrations do require the computer
be sent to us. Are the Kenne Bell OPTIMIZER ll and SWITCH CHIP® the best calibrations for my Chrysler or Ford? We sincerely believe that no one has a better product, so if it doesn't perform better than the competition, return it for a full refund within 30 days. Do I have to program it myself? Absolutely not. It's far too complex. We do all the work for you. Stock computer calibrations vary from year to year, model, transmission, vehicle, engine, emissions standards (49 State or 50 State) etc. There may be numerous stock computer calibrations for the exact same vehicle and year. For example, factory ignition timing may vary from 23°-27° for the same engine and year. That's precisely why we must have the vehicle's specific computer to program the right calibration. The day of the "one program for all" or "do it yourself" programmer is over. How do I know it is the correct and best calibration for my vehicle? Because we re-calibrate your computer with the same optimized calibration we developed on the dyno - and we have a before and after dyno test on file for comparison. Will I have to change or add anything else? No. However, in some cases, a lower temperature Kenne Bell thermostat is recommended. Do I need to run high octane fuel? Yes, but the increase in performance is well worth it. Typically, the OEM manufacturers calibrate their vehicles ONLY for the cheaper low performance and low 87 octane fuel. They aim to please everyone. We re-calibrate for the higher 91-94 octane fuel and optimize the engine's performance. You simply can't have higher performance without higher octane. Will the OPTIMIZER ll or SWITCH CHIP® affect my gas mileage? No, not during normal part throttle driving. However, we've seen cases where mileage was improved by 1-2 mpg. Does the OPTIMIZER ll or SWITCH CHIP® remove my speed limiter? Absolutely not! All manufacturers have good reason(s) for the speed limiter. Removal can jeopardize vehicle safety and/or engine or drivetrain reliability. For example, a driveshaft that spins faster than designed can oscillate, break and seriously damage the vehicle. We will not go there. Does the OPTIMIZER ll or SWITCH CHIP® alter the engine rpm limiter and/or rpm shift points? The factory has often optimized them but where performance can be improved, we do. Randomly raising the rpm often slows the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times while unnecessarily over stressing the engine. Is my driveability in any way affected? No, we actually improve part throttle driveability in most cases. Can the OPTIMIZER ll or SWITCH CHIP® harm my engine? No. Is a dealer able to use their diagnostic tools on my re-calibrated computer? Yes, we in no way affect or limit their ability to perform normal diagnostics. Will the OPTIMIZER ll or SWITCH CHIP® void my warranty? NO! Federal law absolutely prohibits a dealer from voiding a warranty just because you use an aftermarket product. Can my OPTIMIZER ll computer be returned to the original calibration? Yes, but to date, we've never had a request to do so. The SWITCH CHIP® does not require the Ford computer be sent to us in most cases. Does Kenne Bell do an OPTIMIZER ll® for supercharger kits other than Kenne Bell? Definitely, NO! As many now already realize, supercharging a Chrysler product requires some very complex calibrating. This is not for everyone. Does Kenne Bell have a before and after test for every vehicle? Of course. And the dyno test is available for each application. Many have been verified on magazine test vehicles. Will my OPTIMIZER ll or SWITCH CHIP® work with other engine or transmission modifications? Yes, depending on the mods. Cat back exhaust, cool air kits, headers and head porting is O.K. Since Chrysler products are "speed density," be careful with cams, larger injectors, fuel pressure or any product that "mechanically" alters fuel delivery or vacuum. According to our tests, a 10% HP increase will lean out a Chrysler 8% or around one full air/fuel ratio. Fords use a "mass air" system that is far more forgiving to changes. Does Kenne Bell do their own in house calibrations? Yes. If we offer an OPTIMIZER ll or SWITCH CHIP® application, it was calibrated to that specific vehicle and factory computer with Kenne Bell equipment. Warranty? Guarantee? 30 days. If for ANY reason you don't like the OPTIMIZER ll or SWITCH CHIP® or it doesn't perform better than any other competitive product, return it to us within 30 days and we'll re-calibrate the chip back to stock at no charge and refund your money or return the SWITCH CHIP® to us for a full refund. How do I get my OPTIMIZER ll computer upgrade? IMPORTANT: Call, FAX or email us first to check availability and turnaround time. Most computers can be returned the same day received (again, check with us first). Look up the location of your stock computer, remove it and send it to us along with the "OPTIMIZER ll Data Form." UPS and FEDEX are the most commonly used. We recommend that you insure it for $1000 (Note: this is available for a very nominal charge). We re-calibrate your computer and return it prepaid and insured FEDEX Overnight service within 48 hours. If for any reason there is a delay, you will be notified immediately. How do I get a SWITCH CHIP®? Fill out the "Chip Data Form" with the computer identification (catch code) and we send the SWITCH CHIP® ready to plug in. |
