Since we introduced our
first Ford supercharger kit in 1991, Kenne Bell has been deeply involved
with re-calibrating the stock Ford computers. Today, we specialize in 1996
and later Ford car, truck and SUV superchargers and chips. For 6 years we
dyno, street and track tested the new SWITCH CHIP® on our fleet of company
vehicles until the computer calibration upgrades met our performance goals
of optimum power, acceleration and transmission operation for every Ford
vehicle at both part and full throttle - performance you can really feel.
And if you want to actually feel the difference, merely switch between the
PREMIUM and REGULAR modes.







Power
gains vary depending on the vehicle but improvements are typically in the
10% range. Every SWITCH CHIP® has been precision dyno tuned and tested
on the specific vehicle. We have improved the shift quality and increased
engine horsepower at the WOT shift points. Note: Stock (REGULAR) calibrations
actually reduce HP at the gear changes to "soften" the shifts.
The SWITCH CHIP® puts the horsepower back in and uses it to accelerate
the vehicle (see graph). This two pronged Kenne Bell approach (PREMIUM)
increases engine HP (up to 25HP) and reduces trans slippage.
How does it work? We programmed 2 easily switchable calibrations into the
SWITCH CHIP® - PREMIUM (91-94 octane and optimum engine and transmission
performance) or REGULAR (87 octane and factory calibrations). Plug the SWITCH
CHIP® Optimodule into the Ford computer, mount the PREMIUM/REGULAR
switch in a convenient location and connect the two wires.
If for some reason the increased performance of the SWITCH CHIP® is
not desired and you wish to return to 87 octane - or you want to demonstrate
the difference to a friend - just flip the switch to the stock calibration
with reduced engine performance and mushy shifts. We think you'll switch
back to the PREMIUM mode.
